March 25th news....
This message was sent to all youth group members that supplied me with an email address.
Howdy to everyone!!!
I wanted to send out a short message letting everyone know that your child has not missed any meeting for youth group in March. Through Lent services, state basketball, spring break, etc., it has been a little difficult to try and find a meeting time to squeeze in.
My goal is to meet in April and possibly plan a fun day activity as well. (maybe a afternoon spent bowling???)
After talking with Pastor at church last night, he informed me that the junior high youth group usually sponsors the Easter candy hunt for the littler kids on Easter morning, after the 10:30 service.
IF POSSIBLE, could you please send a bag of Easter candy (something suited for tossing out in the yard) with your child to school sometime between now and Thursday, April 1? I will collect it this way and then any youth group member that is present for the 10:30 Easter service can toss it out towards the end of the service for the littler kids. Thank you!!!!
Also, THANK YOU so much to those of you that helped deliver the Valentine treat bags to the shut ins. I have received NUMEROUS responses of appreciation.
I was kicking around an idea of maybe doing a similar activity around May 1st for May Day. I was thinking we could deliver a small, single potted flower or plant. IF ANYONE HAS ANY ideas or thoughts on this, please let me know. I was thinking that maybe we could purchase marigolds, etc. from Walmart and replant them in single containers (or cups) and deliver them for May day. There are approximately 35 people on the shut in list. This would be our last shut in delivery until fall, when we could do the painted pumpkins like youth group did a few years ago.
Again, I appreciate any help or ideas for youth group activities. Thanks again for everything.
Happy Spring,
Kim Pitts

January Youth Group Meeting
The junior high youth group met after mid-week school on January 13th.
They participated in an ice breaker game, where they each had a famous book title taped to their back. They had to ask other people yes or no questions to find out what the title of their book was. Austin Robinson won, he guessed his book title, "Animal Farm".
The ice breaker game lead into a discussion about famous books. What made them famous? Why do people still read them? etc. Then the comparison was made to the Bible. The members had to rotate to five different stations, where they had to interpret 5 Bible versus and fill out a 'find the facts' sheet.
After the station activity, the group discussed what to do for the next meeting. It was decided to meet after mid-week school on Wednesday, February 10th for about 45 minutes. EACH MEMBER IS TO BRING SOME VALENTINE CANDY, OR OTHER VALENTINE ITEM so that Valentine bags can be made for the church shut ins, and deliver them on Sunday, Jan. 14th.
The group ended their meeting by saying the Lord's Prayer.
